When it comes to hanging Blackout Curtains, we’re not shy about encouraging people to hang them high and wide to visually enlarge the window and add height and drama to any space. Just as influential as paint on the walls, nothing makes a room look more finished than a few floor to ceiling curtain panels. This also greatly decreases the amount of light the curtains let in around the edges!
To give the illusion of taller ceilings and a larger window, hang the curtain rod above the window, as close to the ceiling as possible or 8-12 inches above. Wherever allows the curtain to lightly brush the floor.
Ensure your curtain rode is wide enough so that when the curtains are open, just the inner edges of the curtain frame the window, but not the glass. Ideally 8-10 inches from window frame.
